Housing New Zealand’s ability to get rid of troublesome tenants quickly has been strengthened after it won a second court battle to evict families with gang links. The NZ Property Investors’ Federation (NZPIF) has praised HNZ for its stance in a press release issued today. But the group of women who live in Farmer Cres in Pomare, the Hutt Valley, are still refusing to budge.

As manager of The Salvation Army’s women’s hostel in Palmerston North Kerry Mudgway draws on her own experience as she helps homeless women focus on the future. Miss Mudgway says she’s aware what it’s like to be on the “other side of the fence” and can help the women learn from past mistakes.
